When Elle US rolls out a red carpet it doesn’t usually disappoint. From members of the Shondaland clique to stars of the silver screen making the move to the box, here are a few of our favourite looks from the 6th Annual Elle Women in Television Dinner.
Everyone’s favourite Prom Princess from How to Get Away With Murder Aja Naomi King looked comfortable but chic in her off-white colour palette. I love the necklace, how it jazzes up an otherwise run of the mill cocktail dress look.
Producer Aline Brosh McKenna made the case for foxes in this adorable dress. While her emerald bag picks up the green in the floral pattern her nail colour is completely off kilter, making for a really cool and unexpected effort.
Jordanna Brewster was one of the stand out looks for me – the cut and length of the dress is perfection on her and the playful design is divine.
You’d think Samira Wiley (you may know her as Poussey from Orange is the New Black) would want to stay away from jumpsuits, but this black number is the epitome of chic. She’s right on trend with the shoulder baring, and her dark eyes but otherwise minimal makeup and jewellery keeps things nothing less than classy.
I was on the fence about the dress of annoyingly pretty actress Priyanka Chopra (and rumoured addition to the Baywatch movie!), but now I’ve decided I like it. The slit is so high, but looks cute and playful thanks to the tie detail. The colour is just lovely on her, and while I would have preferred it with a pair of silver sandals I still think the look comes together really well – love the little gem clutch!
Olivia Wilde will be seen next in highly anticipated TV show Vinyl, and has been putting all the 70s style stops out on the red carpet – just take a look at those platforms. The dress is totally weird and amazing, featuring scream queens including Janet Leigh in Psycho, and the leather jacket lends the look some effortless cool.
Rebecca Romijn couldn’t look more like a sexed up Stepford Wife. In a good, no great way! The coral colour is just right for her skin tone, the cut holds everything in its rightful place and the short, high blinging necklace draws the eye to her “I’m hot and I know it” face. Bravo Rebecca.
