CM posted last week a round up of beautiful looks from the most glamorous film festival of them all. For me there was one standout, juror Sienna Miller.
The thought of packing for a week of events – night, day and cocktail hour – makes me feel pretty damn panicky. I was at a hen party this weekend and packing for that was an ordeal even though we had a theme and I was only away for three days.

Unlike me Sienna probably didn’t travel by bus to or around her destination and she probably did have a team to help her pick out, transport and get in and out of her gowns but still, hats off to her. Looking like that for a week takes work.
Yes, people do it every year and of course it’s a huge honour and it’s not like I feel sorry for her having to attend swanky events and judge amazing films.
What I applaud is her sartorial prowess. But remember, she has always been quite the style icon. Seriously, who can forget those boho days? Women are still copying the look she has long moved on from. I predict that there will always be a hint of free spirit-ness (see the Valentino number above and the blush Gucci frock below) but her Cannes wardrobe demonstrates her perfected put-together thespian vibe that RADA grads would only love to emulate.

I only saw the ensemble modelled above today and I think it might be my favourite. It’s so simple in a way yet so elegant, glamorous and cool all at the same time.

One element of Sienna’s charm for me is her undone or slightly messy hair and pared back makeup. The red lipstick that she wore with the Ralph Lauren silver gown wasn’t subtle but it was sublime. But, see her makeup in the image below (in Prada) it’s the total opposite – nude lips, cat eye flick – divine.
Sienna’s sartorial USP is that she does dressed up but with a coolest-girl-at-the-party twist.

Even when she’s channelling Grace Kelly, she’s not trying to be a princess, she’s doing Hollywood her way. Or rather, Cannes. Obviously.
