Yesterday lunchtime I found myself at the entrance of 10 Ormond Quay. The reason? Irish interior, jewellery and fashion designer Catriona Hanly’s SS15 showcase. Roscommon native Catriona opened her doors up to the press yesterday morning through to the afternoon and my, was I glad I dropped in. TMCM are huge supporters of Irish design and always embrace the chance to bring designers we love to the fore.
Arriving just before the showcase ended, I was lucky enough to be swept through the whole collection by Catriona herself, resplendent in her own fabulous mint green design. Inspired by her time spent in New York, her love of Parisian Chic and with the theme of ‘occasion’ attached to every gorgeous item, this is my kind of couture.
I saw unique, utterly fabulous pieces for every season (wedding guest screamed at me!) that are chic and modern but would thoroughly stand the test of time. And if you’re a print fiend like CM, well, you’d have a field day. Later on yesterday, back in the glory of the marvellous 10 Ormond Quay, Catriona presented her collection – and it was wonderful to see the pieces come to life.
You never realise how important body shapes and sizes really are until you see go from rack to runway. I loved some of the pieces I saw hanging in the showroom and imagined them a certain way but I adored some of them when I saw them on an actual person. If you haven’t heard of Catriona yet, I urge you to investigate further. Web details on the banner above!
