“Mamma Pia” is the pun post-title I’m proudest as spiked punch of, beating even the classics We Need to Talk About FakeTan and For the Love of Tights. It’s all thanks to the fashion event I attended last Friday night where blogger Sinead Carroll, Galway’s Yummiest Mummy hosted a fantastic night of fashion, food and fabulousness at one of the city’s newest and most stylish boutiques, PIA. Get it – Mamma? Pia? I’m here all night!
There was a gorgeously warm welcome from the chilly Connacht night from Sinead (dressed in a striking red dress from PIA) and her aunt, along with a clever competition innovation – they took each guest’s mobile phone number in order to ring several lucky ladies throughout the night, the winners of some super spot prizes. Such a great idea!
My grumbling stomach, protesting after a grueling day at work, soon shut itself right up after spotting the table of goodies supplied by catering company Rustic Grub, which I made a beeline for, on hunger’s order. It was an amazing gourmet spread, and the women at the table were very friendly and attentive. Along with some lovely pink lemonade there was really, really delicious prosecco also on hand, supplied by Galway wine superstore, Cases.
Once my appetite was at bay I could turn my attention to the stylish surroundings. PIA is in a great location on Middle Street, Galway, and is an Alladin’s cave of clothes and accessories. It’s well worth a looksee if you’re in the area, and really does have something for everyone – from grad dresses to mother-of-the-bride outfits and everything in between and even beyond – there are loads of really affordable items to spend your hard-earned money, money, money on.
A make-up expert from Cara Pharmacy was on hand with a Benefit pop-up, advising on cosmetic trends and topping up lippy for any attendees who may have left most of theirs behind on the prosecco flutes!
After an introduction and the announcement that she’s turning her hand to personal styling, Sinead confidently compered a short and very sweet fashion show, with everything supplied by PIA. Because of the sizable crowd grappling to get a peek I didn’t get a chance to photograph the first few looks, but caught these sophisticated styles later on.
Photographer Patrick Lennon was snapping away all evening, and on browsing through his photos on the Yummy Mummy facebook page I discovered this gem below – apologies Patrick, for my mug derping away in the background!
Thanks Sinead, PIA and all for a great night – I Have a Dream that there’ll be another just like it some time soon!
